Drinkable Mayo Is Happening in Japan

In November, Japanese convenience store chain Lawson launched Nomu Mayo, a drinkable mayonnaise. Lawson states it’s a “chilled drink mayo fanatics have long been waiting for.” However, the product is technically a “mayonnaise-style drink” made with milk, dairy-type products, and mayo seasoning, not pure mayo.

The drink is currently in a “test sale period” to gauge customer response. While reactions online have been mixed, with some expressing confusion or disgust, it has sparked curiosity. Many have tried it “for science,” though reviews are generally negative. One Reddit user called it “awful” with a salty, mayo-like taste, while another admitted to tipping it down the drain.

Trend Alert: Espresso Tonic

The espresso tonic, a blend of espresso and tonic water, was first created in Norway in 2007 but has only recently gained traction in the U.S. The espresso tonic is emerging as a refreshing bridge between morning coffee and evening drinks, especially as young people seek mocktails and adaptogenic beverages. With cold drinks making up over 75% of Starbucks’ sales, the espresso tonic is well-positioned to rival popular choices like frappuccinos and espresso martinis.

Zach Coffey, inspired by the rising popularity of espresso tonics, saw an opportunity to introduce the drink to a larger audience. Along with co-founder Bianca Smith,  he launched Spritzi — a canned cold brew tonic in flavors like orange, strawberry dragonfruit, and classic coffee.

Pantone Color of the Year is…

Mocca Mouse. This is how they explained their choice of color: A trend-led fashion color with a rich neutrality, PANTONE 17-1230 Mocha Mousse extends our perception of brown, crossing from the humble and earthbound to the luxurious. We don’t know about you, but we like to call it milk chocolate color.
