Malka Beer was born in 2006 out of a love for nature and a deep desire to further promote beer culture in Israel. Assaf Lavi, who was the owner of two pubs in Tel Aviv, left the Big City and moved to the ecological community of Klil and began brewing beer in small batches. Assaf chose the name Malka (Queen, in Hebrew) because the word beer in Hebrew is feminine and he wanted the name to reflect both royal connotations as well as something for the masses. After the recipes were formulated, Assaf loaded his pickup with Malka Pale Ale, Malka Blond Ale and Malka Stout and began distributing the beers in Tel Aviv. In 2008 the brewery was established in Kibbutz Yehiam at the foot of the fortress, in the Galilee, facing the sea. Since then, the brewery produces ales in a traditional manner and in small batches. The process begins by using the finest base products and it involves uncompromising quality control. Today they are leading the Israeli Craft Beer Market, producing over 1,000,000 liters of beer annually.
In 2010, the Malka Beer Garden was opened next to the brewery in Kibbutz Yehi’am. The Courtyard borders a natural grove overlooking the Yehi’am Valley and the Haifa Bay. Over time, the courtyard has become a favorite hangout spot for locals and visitors from all over Israel.
Malka Beer operates out of the industrial zone of TEFEN, where they have implemented state of the art brewing and packaging technologies. The production process begins using the highest quality raw materials and carries on with strict quality control and uncompromising final product standards.
